StagelightUNIVERSITY’s session takes place at SALT in West Chester and is designed for students Grades 6-12 who have experience in performing and are on a track of either pursuing it professionally or are desiring to grow in their skills and abilities in a challenging and uplifting setting. This will be a special experience whereby a max of 30 students will journey together for a semester through advanced-level training while also putting together a full-scale production. This program is designed for those who have taken at least 4 semesters of StagelightPLUS, or have several years of outside training in singing, acting, and dance under their belts. After a student completes at least 2 sessions of Stagelight University in the 2024/2025 school year, they will then be eligible to audition for our Summer Stock show, whereby they are paid to perform.


FALL 2024

THE PROM: School EDITION for gradeS 6-12

Four eccentric Broadway stars are in desperate need of a new stage. So when they hear that trouble is brewing around a small-town prom, they know that it’s time to put a spotlight on the issue…and themselves. The town’s parents want to keep the high school dance on the straight and narrow—but when one student just wants to bring her girlfriend to prom, the entire town has a date with destiny. On a mission to transform lives, Broadway’s brassiest join forces with a courageous girl and the town’s citizens and the result is love that brings them all together.

This session is for the experienced performer who wants intensive training in singing, dancing, & acting while also putting together a full-scale musical production. The show for this session will be The Prom, School Edition. Auditions will be on August 27 from 5:45-8:45PM. Rehearsal Training Sessions will take place Sunday afternoons from 1-4PM and Tuesday evenings from 5:45-8:45PM beginning September 1 and going through their final performance on November 9.

Tech Week is Sunday-Wednesday, November 3-6 from 5:30-9:30PM. Performances of the Show: November 7 at 7PM, November 8 at 7PM, and November 9 at 2PM & 7PM. Attendance at all tech rehearsals and performances is MANDATORY!

WINTER 2025

Juvie for Grades 6-12

JUVIE is the most honored of Jerome McDonough’s many acclaimed plays. Set in a juvenile detention center, JUVIE depicts the life of kids who are scared, lonely, disturbed, and locked up. Some have killed and some are just misfits. Skip, a repeat offender waiting to get out to enjoy his next drink…Philly, describing the way her arson fires “drive away the darkness”…Andy, a boy unaware of the crime for which he was arrested… Jean, a heroin addict who burgles an old man’s house to support her habit. These are just a few of the stories you will hear told in the show.

This session is for the experienced performer who wants intensive training in dance & acting while also putting together a straight play. The play for this session will be Juvie, giving every performer the chance to sink their teeth into a character and story. The students will also get weekly dance intensive masterclasses in tap, ballet, and jazz from a variety of professionals in the performing arts field. They will get the opportunity to learn new choreography from a different Broadway show each week.

Rehearsal Training Sessions will take place Sunday afternoons from 1-4PM and Tuesday evenings from 5:45-8:45PM beginning January 21 and going through March 11. Sundays will be acting training/play rehearsals, while Tuesdays will be dance training & masterclasses. The performance of Juvie will take place March 11th at 7PM. Attendance at the performance is MANDATORY!

SPRING 2025

Sweeney Todd: SCHOOL EDITION for Grades 6-12

An infamous tale, Sweeney Todd, an unjustly exiled barber, returns to nineteenth-century London, seeking vengeance against the lecherous judge who framed him and ravaged his young wife. The road to revenge leads Todd to Mrs. Lovett, a resourceful proprietress of a failing pie shop, above which he opens a new barber practice. Mrs. Lovett's luck sharply shifts when Todd's thirst for blood inspires the integration of an ingredient into her meat pies that has the people of London lining up... and the carnage has only just begun!

This session is for the experienced performer who wants intensive training in singing, dancing, & acting while also putting together a full-scale musical production. Sweeny Todd School Edition will be a StagelightUNIVERSITY intensive session for 5 weeks only. Auditions will be on March 29 from 9AM-NOON. Rehearsal Training Sessions will take place Sundays, Mondays, & Wednesdays from 6-10PM starting April 13 and going through their final performance May 17. (Please note: there will also be 2 Saturday rehearsals from NOON-8PM on May 3 and May 10).

Tech Week is Sunday-Wednesday, May 11-14 from 5-10PM. Performances of the Show: May 15 at 7PM, May 16 at 7PM, and May 17 at 2PM & 7PM. Attendance at all tech rehearsals and performances is MANDATORY!

*REFUND POLICY:

  • You may receive a full refund if you cancel your registration more than a week in advance of the start date.

  • You may receive a 50% refund if you cancel within a week in advance of the start date.

  • Refunds are not offered once the semester begins, HOWEVER: in the event of a government pandemic shut-down, all students will be offered compensation options for the days in which they miss.

    PANDEMIC SAFETY PROTOCOLS:

  • Throughout the Pandemic, we have followed Chester County Health Department’s Guidance, which changes often. As of now, masks during rehearsals are optional. Masks are not able to be worn with microphones come showtime. If you have any questions, please email info@saltpa.com. Thank you!

*ATTENDANCE POLICY:

  • Actors are permitted 2 rehearsals off if needed (for sickness, unexpected life conflicts, school events, etc). If they miss any rehearsals beyond the 2, they cannot be in whatever scene or number is rehearsed on the days that they miss, and/or their role in the show may need to be altered or removed. Attendance at tech rehearsals and performances are MANDATORY, so we will not excuse conflicts for those dates. This will ensure a smooth and FUN rehearsal process and confidence in ALL of the kids across the board, which is always our goal!
